How am I doing at the halfway point?

I would like to pause, midpoint in this 30-day study, to tell you how we connected through the Internet.

In early 2002 I was watching live TV coverage of the space shuttle Columbia returning to Earth. During reentry, it suddenly began to disintegrate. In a moment, its seven astronauts were lost. I was gripped by the question: Did they know Jesus Christ? I immediately began to write a short account about how a person comes into a vital relationship with Jesus.

Then I met Mark Weimer. Mark, with some other California businessmen, had recently formed Global Media Outreach to help people find answers to important questions on the Internet. Soon thereafter, GMO began hosting my message at www.lifesgreatestquestion.com.

Immediately, huge numbers of people (like you), began contacting us, the result of searching such terms as “the meaning of life,” “God” and “hope.” Nearly 12 percent of those visiting told us they had decided to follow Christ. Light began to penetrate cyberspace!

Shortly thereafter, I wrote a 30-day study designed to help new believers grow in their faith. It is now in widespread use worldwide. More recently, this abridged version was developed for use on mobile phones.

Though we will likely never meet personally, I want to encourage you. You’ve stayed with me this far. Finish this little study over the next two weeks. You’ll be amazed how it will help you build a solid understanding of your new life in Christ.

KEY VERSE: “But I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12).
