Letting your light shine may involve something as small as a conversation with your neighbor. Your “stand” (Matthew 5:15) may be a time of gathering with friends and family, or participating in a church outreach.
Right now, in Portland and all over the country, I’m encouraging believers to join with our team to serve their community, no strings attached. We call it the Season of Service. We are trusting the Lord for big things, “that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). It’s nothing extraordinary – just an act of obedience to our Lord and Savior. But the results could be incredible! We pray that this service will open the minds and hearts of our neighbors to the message of Jesus Christ.
What will you do today to let your light shine before men? Even the simplest deeds – the most humble of actions – can impact your community, your city, your region, your country, and even your world.
Now, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you” (Isaiah 60:1).
