How God Cares About Mothers

You have a Good Shepherd who loves you!

Written by GodLife on 05/05/2020

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 40:11

This is for you, busy Mom, so I’m going to keep it short.  You love God.  You want to read the Bible and know Him better.  But you are tired and have a thousand distractions. What can you do?

1. Know that God wants to gently lead you

God is your good Shepherd.  Start your day thanking Him and asking Him to lead you today.  He is gracious to you; you be gracious to you too!

2. Get creative with the moments you have

What is the best time for you to read from the Bible? Is it before everyone else wakes up, or maybe after they go to sleep?  Or maybe you can read Bible verses with your children, or at a meal.  Ask your good Shepherd to help you set a time to hear from Him.

If you are new to reading the Bible, start in the New Testament – the gospel books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all talk about Jesus’ life.  You can download a free Bible from downloadbible.godlife.com.  Read some each day and then pray - talk to God about what you’ve read.

You can pray throughout the day.  Tell the Lord your concerns.  Admire God’s handiwork in nature around you.  Pray for your family.  Pray for wisdom in the middle of puzzling situations.  Or sing your praise to God with your children, or as you go to work or are preparing a meal.

3. Seek help

Are there other Christian women you can fellowship with?  Could you walk together, work together, or take your children to play together while you pray together?  Is there a women’s activity in your church that you can be a part of?

Whatever you do, take some time every day to hear from and talk to your Good Shepherd.  Know that He loves you and your family and that He will gently lead you.

Pray this week:

Good Shepherd, please care for me as I care for the family You have given me.  Help me to spend time with You during the busyness.  Amen.
